SYMPHONY VINEYARD
Symphony Vineyard is located a few minutes away from downtown Sidney in the Saanich Peninsula. This is a purely family-owned outfit, the farm was established in the 1950’s. It was initially a strawberry farm and then a supplier of loganberries for the Grower’s Winery. Symphony delved into wine-making in the early 2000s, and the first vines were planted in 2004. Today, the vineyard prides itself on being the only winery producing wines solely from grapes grown in the Saanich Peninsula and creates aromatic whites, crisp rosés, and fruit forward barrel aged reds. It is an ideal place for a wine tasting experience in Sidney.
The Saanich Peninsula is ideal for growing Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Ortega, Millot and Marechal Foch grape varietals as the islands cooler climate lends itself well which lend themselves well to the production of crisp aromatic whites and roses and medium bodied, barrel-aged reds. All wines can be sampled at the recycled timber tasting room and bottles can be enjoyed on the picnic grounds with a view of the vineyard.
The deli is open from May to September and offers you the opportunity to create your own picnic platter from the selection of local cheeses, crackers, charcuterie, salmon, hummus, breads, and other items available. You can then enjoy your platter on the grass patio overlooking the vineyard accompanied by your favourite bottle of wine. On our guided tasting you get an overview of this historical farm and the island wine industry. The winemaking process and the wines are discussed and compared and enjoyed with a sampling of locally made crackers and cheese. Wines are available for sale in the tasting room along with a great selection of chutneys, jams, preserves and wine jellies.
The Symphony Vineyard is the ideal stop for anyone looking for a small, boutique winery with a personal touch and family feeling. Offering up great wines grown from 100% locally produced grapes, the winery should be a must stop for anyone who loves to drink wine in simple but elegant surroundings.
