All right North Van, you are pushing for the best brewery route in BC. With fantastic breweries like Bridge, Black Kettle & Deep Cove all ready on our routes you've just added a great one to the North Vancouver Craft Brewery Route.
Hearthstone is actually in a building that used to be the old Red Truck site a bunch of years ago. This is the perfect building for a new brewery and restaurant. With a brewer who obviously loves brewing beer, hearthstone has put out 11+ beers for their launch party. Oh and we tasted them all, just for you.
The Hearthstone Beer Lineup
Starting with one of our favorites:
Wyld Raspberry - This beer has the perfect balance between sweetness and bitter. You can even taste a tinge of sour in it. We took a growler to go and I didn't realize there was half a beer left in it 3 days later. Obviously when I went back it was a little flat but I got an idea from the Brewmaster at Off the Rail - Add a little carbonation back in to bring it to life. I added about 1/5 pillsner and it brought the beer right back to life. Big win, as this is one of my favorate beers in the Hearthstone lineup and I would have been sad to loose the bottom of my growler.
BC Beer Tip - Add a little Pilsner to your 3 day old growlers to bring beers back to life.
Graham Cracker Ale - With just the perfect amount of sweetness, this Christmas seasonal is will get you feeling like the holidays are fast approaching.
Chocolate Milk Stout - Yes you read it right - CHOCOLATE. With over 650 ratings on untapped thus far it's quickly becoming a fan favorite. We had a friend put this on tap at his startup in gas town and apparently it only lasted a couple of days. That's a great sigh.
McCool's Hazelnut Porter - It does taste as good as it sounds.
Fresh hopped English IPA - Ok, this might be done for the season but if it's back and anything like this next season grab a 4 pack of tall cans. Well worth the trip out to grab this beer.
This is the place you want to try if your a foodie. Everything from the Pizza's from the brick oven pizza to the deep fried motza balls are first in class. Our recommendation? Take a cab there and have someone pick you up with a wheel barrel on the way home. You will be stuffed and won't want to risk any driving afterwards.
